Code of Conduct¶

1. Purpose and Scope¶
The ALASCA community, its open-source projects, and events organized by ALASCA—such as the ALASCA Summit, hackathons, and Tech Talks—are spaces for open exchange, knowledge sharing, and networking. We aim to create an environment where everyone, both within and outside our community, feels welcome, safe, and respected.
This Code of Conduct applies to all individuals who are involved in the ALASCA community in any capacity. This includes the communities associated with ALASCA’s open-source projects, participants in ALASCA events, as well as members and other entities, such as employees hired through ALASCA FOCIS and the Technical Steering Committee.
2. Expected Behavior¶
Discrimination, harassment, or disrespectful behavior of any kind has no place at ALASCA or at ALASCA events. Accordingly, we expect all participants to treat one another with mutual respect and professionalism, to be open to different perspectives, to engage in a fair exchange of views—especially when there are differences of opinion—and to participate in constructive and objective discussions.
We believe that digital sovereignty is achieved not through isolation, but by actively breaking down technical and organizational silos. That is why we are committed to creating interfaces, sharing knowledge, and facilitating collaboration across system, technology, and organizational boundaries.
Our collaboration does not end at the boundaries of our own organization. We also engage with other initiatives, networks, companies, and projects with openness and respect—even when they pursue different strategic or technological approaches. In doing so, we consciously refrain from disparaging or “bashing” others.
In summary, here at ALASCA we follow the principle of the Golden Rule.
Do not do to others what you would not want done to you.
3. Unacceptable Behavior¶
We expect everyone to behave with respect, responsibility, and integrity.
Behavior that violates applicable law will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The applicable legal provisions apply.
Examples of behavior that is inconsistent with our values include:
- Disrupting a safe, constructive work or community environment
- Insults, derogatory or aggressive remarks
- Photographing or filming people against their express will
4. Handling Violations¶
We take violations of this Code of Conduct very seriously. ALASCA e.V. reserves the right, depending on the severity of the violation, to issue warnings, to expel those involved from the association or the community as appropriate, and to take further legal action in serious cases.
5. Reporting Incidents¶
If you feel uncomfortable, are being harassed, or observe behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please contact the ALASCA Board immediately.

6. Responsibility of All Participants¶
Respectful interaction within a community depends on everyone’s participation. By joining the ALASCA community in any way, you agree to this Code of Conduct and actively contribute to a positive, safe, and inclusive atmosphere.
Thank you for helping to make the ALASCA community an open and respectful environment where we can focus our interactions on sharing knowledge and exchanging ideas about technical advancements in the areas of open-source cloud infrastructure and digital sovereignty.
1. Ziel und Geltungsbereich¶
Die Community rund um ALASCA, dessen Open-Source Projekte sowie von ALASCA ausgerichtete Events wie den ALASCA Summit, Hackathons und die Tech-Talks sind Orte für offenen Austausch, Wissenstransfer und Vernetzung. Wir möchten eine Umgebung schaffen, in der sich alle Personen inner- und außerhalb unserer Community willkommen, sicher und respektiert fühlen.
Dieser Code of Conduct gilt für alle Personen, welche in irgendeiner Form in die ALASCA Community involviert sind. Darunter verstehen sich ebenfalls die Communities rund um ALASCAs Open-Source Projekte, Teilnehmer der ALASCA Events sowie die Mitglieder und weitere Instanzen, wie die über ALASCA FOCIS eingestellten Mitarbeiter und das Technical Steering Committee.
2. Erwartetes Verhalten¶
Diskriminierung, Belästigung oder respektloses Verhalten jeglicher Art haben bei ALASCA sowie in der Folge bei Veranstaltungen von ALASCA keinen Platz. Wir erwarten dementsprechend von allen Beteiligten einen gegenseitigen, respektvollen und professionellen Umgang miteinander, Offenheit gegenüber unterschiedlichen Perspektiven sowie einen fairen Meinungsaustausch - insbesondere bei Meinungsverschiedenheiten - und konstruktive sowie sachliche Diskussionen.
Wir vertreten den Ansatz, dass digitale Souveränität nicht durch Abschottung, sondern durch das aktive Überwinden technischer und organisatorischer Silos entsteht. Daher setzen wir uns dafür ein, Schnittstellen zu schaffen, Wissen zu teilen und Kooperationen über System-, Technologie- und Organisationsgrenzen hinweg zu ermöglichen.
Unsere Zusammenarbeit endet nicht an den Grenzen unseres eigenen Vereins. Wir begegnen auch anderen Initiativen, Netzwerken, Unternehmen und Projekten mit Offenheit und Respekt – auch dann, wenn sie andere strategische oder technologische Ansätze verfolgen. Dabei verzichten wir bewusst auf das Abwerten oder „Bashing“ anderer.
Zusammenfassend gilt für uns bei ALASCA der Grundsatz der Goldenen Regel.

3. Nicht akzeptables Verhalten¶
Wir erwarten von allen ein respektvolles, verantwortungsbewusstes und integres Verhalten.
Verhalten, welches gegen geltendes Recht verstößt, wird in keiner Weise toleriert. Es gelten die jeweils anwendbaren gesetzlichen Bestimmungen.
Nicht mit unseren Werten vereinbare Verhaltensweisen sind beispielsweise:
- Störung eines sicheren, konstruktiven Arbeits- oder Gemeinschaftsklimas
- Beleidigungen, herabwürdigende oder aggressive Äußerungen
- Fotografieren oder Filmen von Personen gegen deren ausdrücklichen Willen
4. Umgang mit Verstößen¶
Wir nehmen Verstöße gegen diesen Code of Conduct ausgesprochen ernst. Der ALASCA e.V. behält sich vor, je nach Schwere des Verstoßes Verwarnungen auszusprechen, Beteiligte gegebenenfalls aus dem Verein, bzw. aus der Community auszuschließen und in schwerwiegenden Fällen weitere rechtliche Schritte einzuleiten.
5. Meldung von Vorfällen¶
Wenn du dich unwohl fühlst, belästigt wirst oder ein Verhalten beobachtest, das gegen diesen Code of Conduct verstößt, melde dich bitte umgehend beim ALASCA Vorstand.

6. Verantwortung aller Beteiligten¶
Ein respektvoller Umgang innerhalb einer Community lebt von der Mitwirkung aller. Indem du in irgendeiner Form der ALASCA Community beitrittst, erklärst du dich mit diesem Code of Conduct einverstanden und trägst aktiv zu einer positiven, sicheren und inklusiven Atmosphäre bei.
Vielen Dank, dass du die ALASCA Community zu einem offenen und respektvollen Umfeld machst, bei welchem der Fokus unseres Zusammenkommens auf dem Wissenstransfer und Austausch zu technischen Weiterentwicklungen im Bereichen Open-Source Cloud-Infrastruktur und Digitaler Souveränität liegen kann.
