Free and Open Cloud Initiative Saxony (FOCIS)¶
FOCIS is a project that promotes interoperable and transparent cloud infrastructures in Europe, especially in Saxony, by leveraging open-source technologies and advancing open cloud standards, such as the Sovereign Cloud Stack. Its goal is to strengthen the competitiveness of small and medium-sized cloud providers against international hyperscalers while ensuring data sovereignty and flexibility for cloud users. To achieve this, FOCIS combines technical development, pilot projects user-friendly documentation, and active knowledge exchange within the European open-source community.
FOCIS is co-financed with tax revenue based on the budget approved by the Saxon State Parliament.
More information about FOCIS can be found on the ALASCA website.
